She was the former Elaine Koeser born March 23, 1930 in the Town of Newton, daughter of the late Louis and Katherine (Meyer) Koeser.
On May 7, 1949 Elaine married Eugene Christel at St. George Catholic Church, Elkhart Lake. Eugene preceded her in death on December 1, 2006.
Elaine had been employed at the former Hansen Glove Factory in Kiel for a number of years and then was employed for the Sheboygan Press for 19 years.
She was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel and the Christian Women.
When her sons were active in sports throughout their school years, Elaine enjoyed watching them participate. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, crocheting, word searches and crossword puzzles.
Survivors include her three sons, Dale Christel, Chilton, Roger (Joanne) Christel, Valders, Scott (Lori) Christel, Valders; eight grandchildren, Tammy (Gary) Valleskey, Keith Christel, Dale (Stacy) Christel, Jr., Angela Houston, Eric Christel, Jessica Christel, Jana Christel, Sydney Christel; and four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Alex and Jared Valleskey, and Katelyn Houston. She is further survived by her brothers and sister, Delores Schweitzer, Elroy (Joanne) Koeser, Bonnie (Marvin) Hasler, Marlene (Victor) Frauenfeld, Virginia Voland, Audrey (Roger) Zorn; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Melvin "Spitz" and Marion Christel, numerous nieces , nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Louis Koeser, Jr.; and two brothers-in-law, Elwood Voland and Leroy Schweitzer.
The funeral Mass for Elaine will be celebrate on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel with Rev. Loren Nys S.D.S. and Joe Zenk, Parish Director, officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
