Anna (Dixon) Gibbons, husband John Gibbons & their children came to the United States on the ship "CITY OF WASHINGTON" from Liverpool, England. They arrived in New York City 3/26/1867.

SISTER OF ANNA (DIXON) GIBBONS WAS CATHARINE (DIXON) SHANNON - Catharine died 12/12/1895; she was the wife of Thomas Shannon - Both Catharine & Thomas Shannon are buried at Pine Ridge - Catharine has a tall tombstone; Thomas does not have a tombstone. Their young son Patrick Shannon is buried next to them & has a small stone.

Death of an Old Resident: On Saturday morning last at the home of her SON, THOMAS GIBBONS, MRS. ANNA GIBBONS, passed peacefully to her rest, her death being due to the natural wearing out of old age, she being nearly 87 years old at the time of her death. Long a resident of Loda, (IL.) Mrs. Gibbons was much esteemed and highly respected by her friends, of whom she had a large number.
Following is a brief sketch of her life:
ANNA DIXON was born in Westmead, Ireland, in the year 1823. At the age of 18, she was united in marriage to JOHN GIBBONS. To them seven children were born; four daughters & three sons, all of whom are living. In the spring of 1868 (1867 however), the family emigrated to the United States, coming directly to Loda, and made their home continuously here until death.
Funeral services were held Monday at St. Joseph's church, of which deceased was a communicant, Rev. Fr. W.F. Healy officiating. The pallbearers were William, Edward, Chas. and _____Deany of Gilman (IL.), JOHN GIBBONS, JR., and Fred Prather, of Loda, all of whom were GRANDSONS of the deceased. The remains were laid to rest at Pine Ridge Cemetery beside those of her husband, whose death occurred in 1886.
