Martha Terhune Hunt, the subject of this sketch, was born in Mercer Co. Ky. July 3, 1822, aged 85y 6m 6d at the time of her death.
When at the age of 7 years she moved with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Garret Terhune to Johnson county where the deceased had lived almost eighty years.
She was married to Wm. R. Hunt, Sept. 1839, who departed this life Aug. 20, 1887. To this union was born six children, Cintha Jane McNutt-Cooper, Robert S., Nancy Elizabeth Byers; Garret Manford, James Garnet, and Sarah Margaret Anderson, all of whom are living except Garret M. and Nancy E. and all lived until her eightieth birthday.
Mrs. Hunt was the grandmother of thirty-two grandchildren and also thirty-two great grandchildren. She had a cheerful disposition and always looked on the bright side of life; she was a good wife, mother and neighbor.
She joined the Baptist church when quite young and has lived a Christian life up to the time of her death which occurred Thursday January 9, 1908. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bailey Anderson, where she had made her home for the past nineteen years.
