Born as Lydia Urania Baker in Auburn Corners, Ohio, in 1842, Urania (as she was known) and her sister Eunice married brothers, George and Daniel Tanner. Urania married George D. Tanner on July 21, 1872, in Lowell (Kent County) Michigan. George and Urania had four children, Joseph, born in 1873, Dora May, born in 1875, Bessie born in 1878 and Chauncey (later changed to Jack) born in 1882. The Tanners lived in Washtenaw County for many years before moving to the Cleveland, Ohio area in the early 1900's. Eventually Urania moved with her son Jack to Halfway, Michigan, (later known as East Detroit, and now known as Eastpointe) where she died in 1928. Urania had five grandchildren.
