LENEXA — Judy Mattox, 60, a former Parsons resident, died at 4:43 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at her home in Lenexa. Death was unexpected. She had moved from Parsons to Johnson County in 2006.

She was born July 13, 1949, in Parsons to George W. and Vera H. (Amos) Mattox. She attended school in Parsons and lived here most of her life.

For 14 years, she was employed at Broderick Manufacturing Co. and later worked for CLASS Ltd. in its sheltered workshop.

She was a member of First Christian Church in Parsons. She attended the Bethesda Options Day Service in Olathe and greatly loved all of the activities it provided. She loved movies and going for pizza, to the park, to ball games and to church. She also enjoyed returning to Parsons to visit her father and participating in the activities of her sister's family.

Survivors include her father, George Mattox of Parsons; her sister and her husband, Jeanette and Roger Parsons of Lee's Summit, Mo.; a nephew and his wife, Brett and Jill Parsons of Lee's Summit, Mo.; and a niece and her husband, Aubrey and Michael Shortino of Lee's Summit, Mo.

Her mother, Vera Mattox, preceded her in death on Sept. 27, 2004.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial will be in McCune Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials are suggested to the Special Olympics of Johnson County or Bethesda Options Day Service and may be left at or sent to the funeral home at Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357.
