WILLIAM WESLEY EAKINS, 85, OF FORT SMITH, DIED MONDAY, DEC. 19, 2005, IN A LOCAL NURSING HOME...HE WAS BORN FEB. 20, 1920, IN OTTUMWA,IOWA...HE WAS A RETIRED MACHINIST FOR BALDOR ELECTRIC, OF THE ASSEMBLY OF GOD FAITH, AND SERVED IN WORLD WAR II WHERE HE RECEIVED THE PURPLE HEART , OAK LEAF CLUSTER, COMBAT INFANTRY BADGE, APTC RIBBON, TWO BRONZE STARS AND WORLD WAR II VICTORY RIBBON IN OKINAWA...FUNERAL WILL BE 10 A.M. THURSDAY AT LEWIS FUNERAL CHAPEL IN LAVACA WITH BURIAL AT NEW CEMETERY IN MULBERRY.

HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE, BERNICE; TWO SISTERS, MARTHA OVERTURF OF COLORADO AND OLIVE WHEATON OF OTTUMWA, IOWA; A BROTHER, WALTER EAKINS OF FORT MYERS; FIVE GRANDCHILDREN; 12 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN; AND THREE GREAT-GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN...

PALLBEARERS WILL BE BOB EMMANUEL, RON, JOHN AND DONNIE PICKLER, GREG CHAMBLEE AND ROYCE BEECHAM...THE FAMILY WILL VISIT WITH FRIENDS FROM 5 TO 6 P.M. TODAY AT THE FUNERAL HOME...
