DOROTHY ALLEYNE HICKS PORTER, 88, New Hope, died July 20, 2009, at her residence.
Born in Nelson County, Porter was a homemaker and member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in New Hope. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Leonard and Anna Belle Seward Hicks; a son, Stephen Porter; a grandson, Stawart Lansing Porter; three sisters, Norma Colvin, Inez Brown and Nancy Brennun; and four brothers, Fred, Jesse, Howard and Ernie Hicks. Survivors include: two daughters, Denise Hicks of Bardstown, Sheila Greenwell of New Hope; a son, Mike Porter of Elizabethtown; a sister, Shirley Ann Allgeier of Louisville; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Visitation: 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, at Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven with a memorial service at 7 p.m. Arrangements by Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home.

She was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Porter, one grandson; her parents, Leonard and Anna Belle Seward Hicks; three sisters, Norma Colvin, Inez Brown, and Nancy Brennun; and four brothers Fred Hicks, Jesse Hicks, Howard Hicks and Ernie Hicks. Survivors include two daughters, Denise Hicks, Bardstown, and Sheila Greenwell, New Hope; a son, Mike Porter, Elizabethtown; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley Ann Allgeier, Louisville. Visitation is 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven with a memorial service at 7 p.m. with Deacon Eddie Hutchins officiating. Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven is in charge of arrangements.
