Joseph was the son of Abraham Beach and Martha Patsy Merriman. He married Mary Melissa Collins (daughter of Francis Marion Collins) about 1877 and to this union 3 children were born; Harve Allen, Minnie Dee and William. He second married Iwilda Willie Wilson 25 Sep 1887 and they had the following children: Fannie Eura, Abraham L, Ethel Mae, Jewell Grace, Ollie Myrtice and Lola.
