BEECH ISLAND, S.C. - Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Hall Stevenson, 89, of Old Trail Road, Beech Island, SC, who entered into rest March 29, 2010, will be conducted Thursday morning at 10 o'clock from the First Presbyterian Church of Augusta. Dr. George W. Robertson and Dr. Robert Vasholz officiating. Interment in Westview Cemetery, Thomson, GA. Mrs. Stevenson was a native a McDuffie County, having made Beech Island her home for over 50 years. She retired from the Richmond County Board of Education with over 30 years of service, where she worked as the secretary for the superintendent. Upon retirement she remained active with the Retired Secretary's Association. Mrs. Stevenson was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Augusta where she was an active member of the Trinity Bible Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, John K. Stevenson, Sr. Survivors include: Sara Jane Stevenson Lanier a son, John Kermit Stevenson, Jr., Brisbane, Australia; two daughters and sons- in-law, Helen Elizabeth Morton and Thomas Bates, North Augusta and Sara Jane Stevenson and Dean Lanier, Augusta; a sister, Jane Hall McGahee, Hilton Head Island, SC; a sister-in-law, Tommie Hall, Elberton, GA; seven grandchildren, Anne-Marie Stevenson, Margaret Baumer, Nickolas Gavalas, II, Robbie Bates, Leonard Bates, Adam Youngblood and Sara Marchman; four great-grandchildren, Anthony Gavalas, II, Alyssa-Kay Gavalas, Brittany-Lee Baumer and Cody Baumer. Pallbearers will be Patrick Steed, Adam Youngblood, Nickolas Gavalas, II, Anthony Gavalas, II, Matthew Marchman, Matthew Wingate and Freddie Tarver.
