Vernon Lundberg, 88, Franklin, formerly of Arco, died Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at the Golden Living Center in Franklin.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 17 at 2 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Arco with Rev. Gary Veit officiating.

Casket bearers will be his sons, Keith, Lowell, Lewayne and Daniel Lundberg.
Military honors will be provided by Lincoln County VFW Post #2980 of Ivanhoe.

Interment will be in East Elim Cemetery in Ash Lake Township.

Vernon Alois Lundberg was born May 11, 1918 to Theodore and Agnes (Johnson) Lundberg in Ash Lake Township, Lincoln County. He was one of six children, including his twin brother, Valgean.

He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant in the 1208th Fire Fighting Platoon.
He married Berneil M. Pederson on Jan. 5, 1947 in Canton, S.D.

He worked as a farmer, a business owner, a milk truck driver and in the 1970s worked road construction on the I-90 project.
In 1980 Berneil died.

Six years ago Vernon entered a nursing home. The last three years he was a resident of Golden Living Center.
He was a lifetime Lutheran and a long-time member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Arco. He was a member of Lincoln County VFW Post #2980 in Ivanhoe.

He is survived by his six sons: David, Marshall, Lowell (Molly), Knoxville, Tenn., Keith (Carol), Grand Rapids, Kevin, Willmar, Lewayne "Lewey" (Claudia), Memphis, Tenn., and Daniel "Danny," Albert Lea; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Valgean (Ilene), Ivanhoe and Alfred "Curly" (Joan), Hastings; one sister, Audrey Moffatt, Copperopolis, Calif., and his good friend, Ray Jaglo, Hardwick.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Berneil; one grandson; his brother, Clinton "Bud" and his wife Ione; his sister, Astrid Beck and her husband Marlin and brother-in-law, Donald Moffatt.
