Our town was shocked last Saturday afternoon by the news that Archie Griffin was a victim of a load of bird-shot which resulted in his death in a few moments. The gun was fired by his brother in self defense. Mr. Griffin was about 31 years old and leaves a wife and five children, which have the sympathy of all our community. The funeral was conducted by Rev H.G. Wheeler of Ashburn and the burial took place at Pleasant Hill cemetery, surrounded by a large crowd of relatives and friends. Among his near relatives are his father, Mr. W.H. Griffin, brother Raymond Griffin and four sisters as follows: Miss Leila Griffin, Mrs. Maybelle Griffin Mrs. Birdie Handley and Mrs. Vesta Campbell.
