Services for Burnett Self were held in the Baptist Church in Seymour. The Masonic Lodge had charge of services at the cemetery. John Burnett Self was born in Seymour. At that time, his parents were living on a ranch on the Wichita River. His parents moved nine miles south of Seymour on the Brazos River in 1890. As soon as he was old enough to attend school Mr. Self started at Ogden, across the river from the Self farm. In that community, he met his wife-to-be, Miss Lucy Evelyn Erath and they married on 18 December 1910. Mr. Self bought the farm adjoining that of his father and he and his family lived there until moving to Seymour in 1918. Mr. Self followed various occupations in his life including being a night watchman for Seymour and driving a truck. At the time of his death, he was a bus driver for the school bringing pupils from Mabelle to the Seymour school. Survivors include his wife; four children; his parents; one brother; one sister.
