Mary Alice Hoffstatter McMullen was born in Geneseo, Illinois, November 23, 1892, died May 19, 1926 at her home east of What Cheer, at the age of 33 years, 5 months and 25 days.

She spent the early part of her life in Illinois, moving to Grinnell, Iowa in 1907, which was her home until last July.

After finishing high school, she was associated with the business houses of Grinnell, which, with her gentle and courteous manners won as a friend every one she met.

On April 12, 1924 she was united in marriage to George E. McMullen by Rev. Purdy, of Oskaloosa.

While a girl she united with the Presbyterian Church, and was a very active worker.

She leaves to mourn her death besides her husband, her mother, Mrs. Rosa Hoffstatter, of Grinnell, two sisters, Mrs. Harriet Hamilton and Mrs. Paul Stanley, of Grinnell; three brothers, Will and Roy of Grinnell; John of Stuart; one nephew, Kenneth Hamilton and niece Norma Hoffstatter and many friends.

Her father, Jacob W. Hoffstatter and infant sister Mahalla passed on before.
