Florence E. Pedersen, 98 years old of Antioch, IL passed away Monday, January 23, 2023 at her home on Lake Marie, Antioch, IL. She was a longtime resident of Antioch, the daughter of Laurence and Mabel (nèe Sage ) Prince. After years of raising five boys, she joined the Antioch Woman's Club in 1972 and received her 50 years pin in 2022. She served as President of the Antioch Woman's Club from 1981 to 1983 and served as President of the IL GFWC 10th District from 1990 to 1992. She then went on to serve as president of the IL GFWC 10th District Past Presidents Club from 1992 to 1994. She loved playing bridge and belonged to several bridge clubs.
On June 3, 1944, she married Alfred P. Pedersen at St. Peter Catholic Church, Antioch. They were married over 65 years before his passing in 2010.
Florence is survived by her sons, Alfred P. (Judy) Pedersen, Jr. of Antioch, Lloyd Pedersen of West Hollywood, CA, Dale Pedersen of Blanchardville, WI, Brian (Mary) Pedersen of Antioch; her daughter-in-law, Linda Pedersen; her 12 grandchildren, Tammi (Mark) Lyles, Dean A. (Michelle) Pedersen, Jr., Carol (Dan) Murin, Jeannine (Jose) Pedersen-Guzman, Donald (Kimberly) Pedersen, Breanna (Chad) Merrill, Connie (Bryan) Tubbs, Shannon (Brian Haiges) Pedersen, Christina (Mike) Kowalczyk, Andrew (Ashley) Turner, Kaitlin (Brian) Moran, and Matthew (Marissa) Turner; her 17 great-grandchildren, Austin and Dayton Lyles, Abigail and Benjamin Pedersen, Dane, Madelyn, Isabella, and Marcus Murin, Damian and Peyton Pedersen, Ava and Luna Guzman, Lyle Kowalczyk, Finn, Tatum, Emmett and River Turner.
In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred P. Pedersen, Sr., her son, Dean A. Pedersen, Sr. and sister, Mary Agnes Mason.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. with Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2023 at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church, Old Mill Creek, IL. Interment will immediately follow in Hickory Union Cemetery, Antioch, Township, IL. For additional information, call 847-395-4000.
