Daughter of James Andrew Hamlin & Eliza Jane Shearer, married 1st Jesse Wyatt Wilson, married 2nd John Andrew Carlile, married 3rd Edward Mathus.
Rosanna was quite a lady, apparently having a short temper, and, as a result, spending several years incarcerated in the Oregon State Penitentiary.

"Mrs. Rosana Mathus, 84, pioneer resident of the Rogue River Valley, passed away at her home in Jacksonville early Thursday.
Mrs. Mathus was the daughter of James A. and Eliza Hamlin, who came to the Rogue River Valley in 1853. Mrs. Mathus was born on her father's farm south of Medford, which is the Foothill's Orchards. She is survived by her husband, E. F. Mathus of Jacksonville, four children by a former marriage, James A. Wilson, Jacksonville; Jesse A. Wilson, Medford; Mrs. Amy Lindemood, Yreka, Calif., who tended her mother through her illness, and Mrs. Allie Hayes, Portland, Ore., four grandchildren, Major R. M. Hayes, in the Air Corps in Italy; 1st Lt. Maynard Wilson, in the army medical corps in Hawaii; Bruce Wilson, Medford, and Nellie Wilson, Yreka, Calif.
Funeral services will be held at the Perl Funeral Home Saturday at 2 p.m., the Rev. Skinner will officiate and interment will be in Jacksonville Cemetery."
