This family was in Franklin County, Kansas, by 1875.

Civil War records show that Calvin P. McClellan served in Co. C of the 81st Ohio Infantry. The 1885 Ottawa Township, Franklin County, Kansas State census also records his service during the Civil War. A pension record lists the name as McClelland, with an alias also recorded as McClellan.
