Willva Casey Wylie lived most of his life in LaRue except during World War II when he lived on various islands of the South Pacific and for a few years after the war he lived on a farm outside of Fairfield where his son Thomas was born. He returned to his family homeplace in LaRue during the early 1950s where he was the owner of OSO Ranch. In 1987 he received the "Family Land Heritage Award" presented by the Texas Department of Agriculture for 100 years of continuous family ownership. He was a member of the New York Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was retired from the Texas Highway Department.
He was survived by his wife Jackie Wylie, his son Thomas Wylie and daughter-in-law Sue Wylie, his grandson Matthew Wylie and granddaughter Miranda Wylie, all of LaRue; and one brother Sidney Wylie of Athens.
