Jo Marie Abraham was born on June 25, 1932 in Garwood, to Dona and Roy Thrasher.
Growing up, Jo Marie helped in the family hamburger stand. After graduating from Port Lavaca High School in 1950, she worked for the phone company and Alcoa.
She married Carol Abraham on Dec. 14, 1953. They spent 52 years together and raised three children. Dedicating herself to being a wife and full time mother, she focused on her children, always with a helping hand and guidance making sure each finished college.
The morning of Thursday, Jan. 18th, Jo Marie succumbed to a lengthy illness. During this fight, she showed how to blend a strong will with grace, which touched those whom she came in contact with. Her children deeply appreciates all the love and support that was displayed during this time by family, friends, and care givers.
Jo Marie left behind a daughter, Susan Millard; sons Michael Abraham, David Abraham; son-in-law, Gregg; daughters-in-law Aida and Julie Abraham; seven grandchildren, Justin, Jonathan, Brian, Timothy, Trevor, Jamie and Caroline; her sister, Mrs. Fern Mickle; and a lifetime of friends.
Visitation will be held 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22, at First Baptist Church, Brother Mike Gresham officiating.
Interment will follow at Greenlawn Gardens.
Jo Marie's nephews will serve as her pallbearers.
