The 20 Jun 1900 US Census of Leeds, Jefferson Co., AL enumerated the household of 40 Y/O John Henry Abercrombie, a dry goods merchant, and his 38 Y/O wife, Fannie (Godwin) Abercrombie. Also in the household were their children: 20 Y/O Mary Frances Abercrombie, a music teacher; 19 Y/O William Alexander Abercrombie, at school; 16 Y/O Emmie Abercrombie, at school and 10 Y/O Beatrice Martha Abercrombie, at school. NOTE: Living in the household next door was John Henry's 26 Y/0 brother, Andrew Jackson Abercrombie, Sr., also a dry goods merchant born in Al, and his 24 Y/O wife, Fannie (Gillespie) Abercrombie, born in AL. Also living in the household were their 5 Y/O son, Robert W. Abercrombie and their 3 Y/O daughter, Lucile Abercrombie.

Mary Frances Abercrombie married Oscar Jones on 30 Dec 1900 at Leeds, Jefferson, Alabama. Following their marriage, Oscar was employed as a salesman in the Abercrombie family owned dry goods store in Leeds, Jefferson Co. AL. Mary Frances Abercrombie's father, John Henry Thomas Abercrombie was proprietor of the store at the time. Mary Frances Jones subsequently completed 4 years of college.

The 1910 US Census of Precinct 12 (Leeds), Jefferson Co., AL enumerated the household of 34 Y/O Oscar Jones, a salesman in a dry goods store, and his 29 Y/O wife, Mary Frances (Abercrombie) Jones, born in Leeds, AL. Also living in the household was their 3 Y/O daughter, Marguerite Jones.

The 12 Sep 1918 WWI Registration Card issued to Oscar Jones in Birmingham, Alabama recorded him as the manager of the Imperial Laundry, living with his wife, Fannie May Jones.

The 1920 US Census of Birmingham, Jefferson Co., AL enumerated the household of 44 Y/O Oscar Jones, a dispatcher for a laundry company, and his 40 Y/O wife, Mary Frances "Fannie" (Abercrombie) Jones. Their 15 Y/O daughter, Marguerite Jones, was also living in the household.

The 1930 US Census of Birmingham, Jefferson Co., AL enumerated the household of 53 Y/O Oscar Jones, a laundry company salesman, and his 50 Y/O wife, Mary Frances (Abercrombie) Jones. Their 24 Y/O daughter, Marguerite Jones, a music teacher, and Oscar's 68 Y/O mother-in-law, Frances Ella (Godwin) Abercrombie were also living in the residence.

The 1940 US Census of Birmingham, Jefferson Co., AL enumerated the household 64 Y/O Oscar Jones, a laundry company salesman, and his 60 Y/O wife, Mary Frances (Abercrombie) Jones.

The 1946 through the 1953 City Directories of Birmingham AL recorded Oscar Jones and his wife, Fannie M., living at 744 McMillen Ave. Oscar was employed as the manager of the Imperial Laundry.

The 87 Y/O widow, Mary (Abercrombie) Jones, died in the Fairhaven Nursing Home in Birmingham, Jefferson Co., AL.

Mary Frances (Abercrombie) Jones was the 1st cousin 2 times removed of Pleasant Riggs Crump, through her mother, Frances Ella (Godwin) Abercrombie. Pleasant Riggs Crump had the distinction of being recognized as the last surviving Civil War Confederate Veteran when he died on 31 Dec 1951. Among other notable events, he was at Appomattox Courthouse to witness the surrender of Gen. Robert E. Lee. See Find A Grave Memorial #13397843.
