Born November 14, 1928 in Denver, Colorado. Helen died March 20, 2010 after a brief battle with cancer.

Helen attended North High School in Denver and the University of Denver. After a short job at The Alexander Film Company in Colorado Springs she went to Austria to work for the Special Services at the US military base in St. Anton.

She returned to Colorado and continued with Special Services at Camp Hale with the Mountain and Cold Weather, 10th Mountain Division base in Leadville. From there she moved back to Colorado Springs and ran the crafts shop at Fort Carson.

Helen met and married Robert J. McClinton in 1956. They had three children Michele, Michael and Mark. After Mark was born with Downs Syndrome she started the support group Mothers Mutual to help families with Downs Syndrome children cope with the uncertainties of a Downs Syndrome child.

She also started a ski school for the mentally handicapped at the Broadmoor ski area. Helen obtained her teaching certificate and worked in special education in the Harrison School District, audio visual at Wasson High School and later as a substitute in District 11.

Helen's passions in life were her children, two grandsons, her art and of course her skiing which she learned in 1950 on Aspen Mountain.

Helen was also most proud of her genealogy and her roots to the Aspen Area. Her grandfather, Theodore Ackermann was an original settler of the town of Independence and later lived in Aspen where Helen's mother Jesse M. Ackermann was born.

Helen is survived by her husband Robert J. McClinton, daughter Michele (Brad Osborn), son Michael (Rachael), grandsons Aidan and Liam.

Services will be held at St Paul's Church in the Pauline Chapel, 9 El Pomar Road, Colorado Springs, CO, on Wednesday, March 24 at 10:00 a.m.
