Ashel Bedwell Dies, Near 100th Birthday
Ashel Bedwell, 99, of Bicknell, a retired farmer and coal miner, died Sunday at 10:40 a.m. at Mary Sherman Hospital.
He had been a life long resident of Sullivan County (Pleasantville and Bucktown community) until three years ago when he moved to Bicknell.
Mr. Bedwell would have celebrated his 100th birthday on May 26. He was born in Sullivan County on May 16, 1866 the son of the late Keith (Civil War Veteran) and Sarah Bennett Bedwell.
Surviving are the widow, Lena, one step son, Harrison E. Herndon of Bicknell: and one foster daughter, Mrs. Nola Craig of Sullivan.
Mr. Bedwell was a member of the Mt. Moriah Methodist Church.
Services will be at Mt Moriah Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. with burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
