Alabama Confederate Images per Contributor Bob Atchison (49030904) Pvt. James Knox Polk Glass, Co., E, Jeff Davis Legion Mississippi Cavalry. An Alabamian he enlisted on 18 July 1862 in Marengo Co., AL., in Cpt. J. W. Tayloe's Company, "Canebrake Legion", Alabama Volunteers. This Company eventually became part of the Jeff Davis Legion Cavalry, which consisted of both Mississippi and Alabama Soldiers. Except for temporary duty, including "service with pack train" and "on horse furlough", aka finding horses for military use, he was present for duty and surrendered at the end in North Carolina in 1865.
