#2 Obituary - Elizabeth Mary Johannes, nee Rose, was born April 17th, 1872, at Union Grove, Kenosha County and died Sept. 27, 1928. She was the oldest daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Rose. When a small child she came with her parents to Deerfield, Wis., where she grew to womanhood. When the deceased was but thirteen years of age her mother passed away, and she was left with the father, to mother several small children, the youngest a baby. This she fulfilled until she was united in marriage May 21, 1895, at St. James church, Neshkoro, by Rev. Francis W. Geirn to Peter Johannes of Deerfield. This union was blessed with seven children, six girls and one boy, namely: Mrs. Eva Dutcher, Wautoma; Mrs. Edna Bray, Hancock; Mrs. Rose Berger, Mrs. Leona Fails, Marge Marie and Harold Johannes of Milwaukee. She is also survived by her husband, who is ill in a Fond du Lac hospital, thirteen grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Sarah Johannes of Wautoma, three brothers: Wm. Rose, Deerfield; H.B. Rose, Wautoma; B.H. Rose, Milwaukee; two half-brothers, Michel and Theo Feltis of Wautoma and many other relatives and friends. The deceased was a loving mother and friend, a kind and respected neighbor, always ready to help where needed. She took great pleasure in making little gifts for her grandchildren and was dearly loved by them all, who will miss her smiling face and tokens of love. She was called to her heavenly home very suddenly as she was preparing the evening meal Sept. 26th. She was stricken with paralysis and passed away the following morning at her home in Milwaukee, where she has lived the last five years. Her age was 56 years, 5 months and 29 days. The remains were brought to Wautoma Sept. 29th. Funeral services were held at St. Joseph's church. The deceased, being a member for many tears. Rev. John Nurenberg delivered her funeral sermon. interment was in St. Joseph's cemetery. Two daughters, Mrs. Leona Fails and Marie Johannes were unable to attend the funeral, both being Ill. Those from away were: Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Berger, and Mr. and Mrs. B.H. Rose, Marge and Harold Johannes, T.H. Keither, Hattie Hippner, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Carpenter, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Carpenter, Sr., Roy and Romand Carpenter, all of Milwaukee; T.H. Wilder and wife, Mrs. Frank Berry, Mrs. Clyde Gear, and Mrs. Harley Dutcher of Redgranite, Wis. In the graveyard, sweetly resting where the flowers love to wave, Lies the one we love so dearly In her silent lonely grave. When the evening shades are falling And we're sitting all alone To our hearts there comes a longing If she only could come home. Oft and oft our thoughts do wander To a grave not far away. but mother's with our saviour And she'll greet us all some day.

CARD OF THANKS - We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to our many relatives and friends for the sympathy shown us in our recent bereavement, the sudden death of our beloved mother, Elizabeth Johannes; for the many beautiful flowers; the pastor; those who acted as pallbearers and for the beautiful songs rendered. We thank you all. - The Children
