Known as Luther Martin. He was a whiz at Checkers and was the checker champion of Cuba, Kentucky.He was married to the former Ollie Pritchard. Most family members refer to him as "Daddy T" although no one is quite sure where the nickname originated from. He was my Great-Grandfather on my mother's side of the family. He came down with Parkinson's disease at an early age and his hands shook as far back as I can remember. A week before his death, Daddy T started suffering from chest pains. He wasn't aware that I had seen him leaning over grabbing his chest one night while my brother and I were staying with them. However, Daddy T died peacefully doing what he enjoyed doing. He was doing his normal nightly routine of sitting down in his recliner and reading his newspaper. He simply nodded off to sleep and never woke up. Mammy T discovered him when she came in to wake him up to get ready for bed.
