Lorena was married to Virgil Lee Adams on November 25, 1915, much to the disaproval of her father, James Stephen Neal. Lorena's father had placed her in a convent in Brown County, Texas to keep her from marrying Mr. Adams. She ran away from the convent and rode a horse in the snow from Brownwood to Rochelle, getting pneumonia in the process, in order to see Mr. Adams. At this point, Mr. Neal decided it was alright if she married Mr. Adams. Her children were: Virginia; Doris Inez; Melvina LaRue; Nancy Alene; Johnnie Marie; Lou Ann; and a son, Billy Joe. Lorena raised beautiful flowers in her yard and loved to cook. She spent almost every Saturday and Sunday cooking for family and friends. She was an artist and a poet, taught Sunday school for 40 years at the Christian Church in Rochelle. She loved to set around the fireplace and make up stories for the children. She used her talent as an artist to do the backdrops for school play for about 40 years. She was a midwife and delivered many of the McCullouch County children.
