GREENVILLE ADVOCATE - 27MAY1940 - MRS. ADDIE PAISLEY PASSES AWAY AT HER HOME THURSDAY - SERVICES FOR WELL KNOWN RESIDENT OF LAGRANGE ARE HELD SUNDAY
Mrs. Addie H. Paisley, widow of Frank N. Paisley & a well known resident of Lagrange Twp., & a sister of Mrs. J. R. Savage of this city, passed away at her home about 3 miles south of Donnellson, on Route No. 127, at 11:30 p.m, Thursday. Mrs. Paisley's death was due to myocarditis, pernicious anemia & complications, she having been confined to her bed since 14Mar, although she had been in poor health several months prior to that time.
Funeral services were conducted at the Bass Funeral Home in this city at 2 p.m., Sunday, the Rev. Ronald T. Hickerson, pastor of the Christian church, officiating. Entombment was at Montrose Abbey.
The pallbearers were Clair McCracken, Roscoe Towell, Willis Willeford, Chas. H. Tucker, Sam McLean & Cleve Lindley. In charge of the flowers were Mrs. Clair McCracken, Misses Winnifred Willeford, Helen Baumberger, Ella Ferne McCracker & Doris Meskill. A male quartet composed of L. E. DeMoulin, M. F. Watson, H. E. McDonald & H. O. Malan, sang at the services.
Mrs. Paisley's maiden name was Addie Haynes Hopper, daughter of the late J. R. & Rebecca (Ragland) Hopper, & she was born at Coffeen, 16Sep1871, having attained the age of 68 years, 8 months & 7 days. She spent her early life in the Coffeen vicinity & on 21May1889, she was married to Frank N. Paisley in the Walnut Grove neighborhood, Montgomery Co., & they moved to Lagrange Twp., where she had since resided. Mr. Paisley died 21Sep1926. Following Mr. Paisley's death, she took charge of the management of the farm, which she carried on in an efficient & remarkably capable manner. She had also served as a school director of Elm Point school for several years, & at the time of her death was president of the board.
Mrs. Paisley is survived by an adopted son, Alve Paisley, at home; & 2 grandchildren, Harry & Ruth; 6 sisters, Mrs. Anna Huber of Granite City; Mrs. Beulah Osborn of Redmon, IL; Mrs. Hattie Savage of this city; Mrs. Ruby Nimmons of Litchfield; Mrs. bertha Gesse of Chicago; & Mrs. Katherine Huffman of Seattle, WA; & 2 brothers, A. E. Hopper of Coffeen; & J. R. Hopper of Benld.
Mr. & Mrs. Paisley years ago took into their home Will Laws, & he made that his home since, a period of 40 years, & since Mr. Paisley's death he had been an aide & adviser to the son, Alve.
Mrs. Paisley was a member of the Donnellson Presbyterian church. She was well known in the neighborhood in which she lived, & had a large circle of friends.

E. Fisher, Mr. & Mrs. Paul Meyer & daughter, Lillian, Mr. & Mrs. L. Meyer & Mr. & Mrs. Ed Roques of St. Louis; Mrs. Emma Gesse of Chicago; Mrs. Mollie Wright of Fillmore; Mr. & Mrs. Harry Hopper & daughter, Harriette, & son Harry Jr., of Staunton.
