F. Sprigg Hays, 80, a Barnesville, Md. farmer and a charter member of the Maryland-Virginia Mild Producers Association, died yesterday in Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Hays was born on a farm in Barnesville that has been in the Hays family since 1775. He and a brother, R. Shirley, who died less than three months ago, had been members of the mile producers association for more than 50 years.

Mr. Hays also was a member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau.

He was a graduate of Richard Montgomery High School and Strayer Business College.

He leaves a wife, the former Eleanor Merryman Ray; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Ray Tolbert and Mrs. Mary White Lok, and a brother, Dr. Leonard Hays, all of Barnesville, and several grandchildren. His son, Lt. Frederick Sprigg Hays, Jr., was killed in action in the Korean War.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the home, with burial at Monocacy Cemetery.

Sprigg Hays of Barnesville, Md., son of the late Leonard I. and Mary White Hays; husband of Eleanor Ray Hays, and father of Mrs. Elizabeth H. Tolbert, Mrs. Mary White Lok, and the late Frederick S. Hays Jr; brother of Dr. Leonard Hays.

Friends may call at the Hilton Funeral Home, Barnesville, Md. on Thursday and Friday 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held from his late home in Barnesville on Saturday, October 20, at 11 a.m. Interment in Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville, Md.

In lieu of flowers, kindly make contributions to St. Peter's Episcopal Church Building Fund, Poolesville, Md.
