MELLVIN H McCORD: Glide; 87, went home to be with the Lord on 16 May 1995. Melvin was born on 17 Dec 1907 to Melvin Henry & Mable Estella McCord in PuebloCO. They came to the Glide area in 1932. Melvin married Estella Woods on 2 Jul 1944 in GlideOR. He served in WW2 in Panama, the mop up of North Africa & the invasion of Sicily & Italy. Melvin was a member of the Gilde Church of Christ, South Deer Creek & Evergreen Grange's & lifetime member of the VFW. He served 33yrs in the Forest Service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, being outdoors, working in his green house & most of all being around family.
Survivors include his wife Estella-Glide, dau: WillaJean McCord-Roseburg; son: Leon & wife Kathy McCord-Glide; 3 grandchildren: Rachel, Joe & Ryan-all Glide: bros: Charles McCord-Dillard & Taylor McCord-Glide; sis: Almira Hartz-Roseburg & many nephews, nieces, cousins & friends. He was loved by all who knew him. The memories he made will never be forgotten.
Funeral services will be held Friday 19 May 1995 at Wilsons Chapel of the Roses. Interment will be a Roseburg Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Glide Church of Christ Church Memorial Fund.
