NEWARK: A funeral mass for G William Schilling, 82, of Newark, will be held at St Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 22, 2016 with Rev JCP Sullivan, Parish Priest as celebrant. Interment will follow in St Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Bill died at Kindred Care & Rehabilitation Center on Sunday, December 18, 2016. He was born in Newark, Ohio on December 9, 1934 to the late Clemence S and Ethel (Deem) Schilling, Sr.

Bill, a member of the Army Reserves, was a 1952 gradaute of St Francis de Sales High School and received his Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from John Carroll University. He worked with his father as a life insurance agent at Ohio State life Insurance before joining Weakley Manufacturing as the Production and Inventory Control Manager. Bill also worked at Owens Corning for 19 yearas as an Accounting Supervisor and Purchasing and Warehouse Supervisor.

Following his retirement from Owens, Bill received his realtor license and worked for 11 years with Don Myers Century 21 Realty. He was also an officer with the City of Newark Auxiliary Police Department for 15 years, becoming an Auxiliary Chief.

Bill was a lifelong parishioner of St Francis de Sales Catholic Church where he was a Eucharistic Minister and also served on the St Francis School Board. He was a member of Catholic Social Services and was instrumental in the start up of Newark Catholic Bingo which he worked with his wife Sunday and Tuesday for 12 years.

He is survived by his children, Susan L (Ed) Moss, Cathy A (John) Pintz, Mary P (Keith) Hampshire; and William A (Cynthia) Schilling; 7 grandchildren, Ashley (Brian), Danielle (fiance, Josh), Heather, Spencer, Hunter, Christopher and Abigail; his siblings, Clem (Geraldine) Schilling Jr., Joe (Helen) Schilling, Patricia (Regis) McKenna, and Charles (Barbara) Schilling; brother-in-law, Ellsworth James; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Suzanna L. "Sue" Schilling; his sisters, Mary Lalli, Martha Colman, and Ethel James; two nieces and one nephew.

Friends and family may call at the Reed-Egan Funeral Home, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, December 21, 2016 where a Vigil Service will be held at 6:30 p.m.
The family requests that memorials in Bill's name be made to the Foundation for Hospice of Central, Ohio, PO Box 430, Newark, Ohio 43058; or the Licking County Aging Program, 1058 E Main Street, Newark, Ohio 43055.
