"Lib" Anderson, 84, of Midville died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002 at University Hospital in Augusta. Mrs. Anderson, a native of Elbert County, was a graduate of Georgia College, where she received a bachelor of science degree. She was a former teacher and Home Economist for Georgia Power. During World War II she served as Army Hostess in charge of the enlisted men's cafeteria at the Port of Embarkation in Charleston, S.C. She was elected Tax Commissioner of Burke County in 1957, the position formally held by her husband John Rackley Dinkins, who died in 1956. After 16 years of service she chose not to offer for reelection and joined a real estate firm in Augusta. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, a former Sunday School teacher, past president of Town & Country Women's Club, a charter member of the board of directors of Edmund Burke Academy and the recipient of the Award of Outstanding Continuous Service & Contributions to Edmund Burke Academy.

Survivors include her widower, Benjamin Kennedy "B.K." Anderson of Midville; two daughters, Linda Dinkins of Augusta and Kathy Evans of Atlanta; a son, John Rackley Dinkins Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; two stepsons, Jack R. Anderson of Waynesboro and B.K. Anderson Jr. of Atlanta; two brothers, Joel Stowers of Athens and Owen Stowers of Elberton; a sister, Marjorie Morrow of Washington; a sister-in-law, Mary Dinkins Buford of Roswell; a grandson, John Dinkins Evans of Atlanta; and a step-grandson, Russell Anderson of Waynesboro. Pallbearers were Wayne Crockett, Bill Hargrove, David Hargrove, Henderson Upchurch, Cleve Mobley and Jim Reeves. Honorary pallbeares were members of the Town & Country Women's Club.
