He was elected to the 224 general assemby and also to the 24th. This was about 42 years ago. Mr Addie was a prominent democrat and defeated republicans both times in the general elections. He was also clerk of the courts of Fayette county at one time and was mayor of Brush Creek, now Arlington. The fact that he was elected to the various offices on the democratic ticket in this strongly republican county testifies to his personal popularity. He was also a veteran of the Civil war.
