US Navy Peacetime Medal of Honor Recipient. He entered the US Navy at New York and served as a Seaman Apprentice Second Class. His citation reads "On board the USS Quinnebaug, Alexandria, Egypt, on the morning of 21 November 1885. Jumping overboard from that vessel, Chandron, with the aid of Hugh Miller, boatswain's mate, save William Evans, ordinary seaman, from drowning". After leaving the Navy he settled in Hoboken, New Jersey, and is disappeared from history after being recorded in the 1930 United States Census.
