Wilburn "Bill" Allen, 73, died Thursday, June 29, in the extended care unit at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Prescott, AZ.
    He was born July 11, 1926, in Leland, IL to John and Tollie (Anderson) Allen. Mr. Allen moved to Prescott in 1993. He had been a farmer, auto mechanic and machinist. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II, seeing action in Europe. He was awarded two bronze battle stars for meritorious action in ground combat. He was also a Korean War Veteran. He enjoyed clock and watch repair, and donated time to senior citizens doing fix-it chores. He had been an active member of the Moose Lodge since 1979 receiving the Governor's Award in 1996 and 1997. He was a life member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
    Survivors include his daughter, Linda Fortunato, and a son, David. Other survivors include his sisters, June (Russell) Scott of Sycamore and Judy (Paul) Brandow of Somonauk, and brothers, James (Shirley), Ralph (Maxine), Rueben (Marlene), and Harlod (Joyce) Allen, all of Sandwich; Byford (Delores) of Joliet; David (Peggy) of McKenzie, TN; and Sidney (Mitzi) of Warrenville; two grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a special friend, Dr. Jo Grace.
    He was preceded in death by an infant daughter and a brother, Joe Allen.
    Private cremation services were held in Prescott Valley, AZ. A military funeral will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, July 22, at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Sandwich for his family and friends. Immediately following, a lunch will be served at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Sandwich.
