Jennett McCallum was born in the Dalginross section of the village of Comrie in western Perthshire, Scotland. Dalginross is a southern extension of Comrie; it lies to the south of the River Earn at its junction with the Water of Ruchill.

Jennett had a twin sister Jennie Catherine (McCallum) Norton Copeland 1812-1867.

Their parents are Duncan McCallum (1784-1865) and Catherine McNiel (1786-1841). This family moved from Scotland to South Carolina in 1818.

Jennett married John Lloyd Williams (1811-1842) about 1835 in York District, South Carolina. They had 4 children...3 boys and 1 girl. The oldest son and daughter died young and are buried in the Beth Shiloh Presbyterian Church cemetery. The two youngest sons lived to adulthood.

Jennett's husband died in 1842 at age 31. She then moved her family into the household of her widower father Duncan McCallum. He lived 'along Allisons Creek' just northeast of York, South Carolina.
