George Thomas Adkins, a pioneer resident of the Loco community where he had lived for the past 40 years, died suddenly from heart failure Friday afternoon at the age of 70 years. He had just returned from a business trip to Dodsonville and had gone to the barn to harness his team and go to the field. He was driving the team to the field when he fell, and was dead when relatives reached him.
Mr. Adkins was born November 8, 1860 and was 70 years, 7 month and 11 days of age. He was making his home with his son, M. L. Adkins, near Loco. He is survived by another son and daughter, who are G. W. Adkins and Mrs. Carrie Brown, both of Loco. Other relatives are a sister, Mrs. Sallie New of San Jon, New Mexico, a half-brother, Fred Adkins of Memphis and a half-sister, Eva Denson of Childress.
