OBITUARY OF CLAUDE L. GOODMAN

Funeral Services were conducted for Claude L. GOODMAN at the Methodist Church Monday under the direction of Rev. A. B. Grubb of Gage, Oklahoma, assisted by Rev. H. L. Thurston, pastor of the local Methodist Church.

Pallbearers were Audie CONLEY, C. B. ROGERS, Ollie MORRIS, Noah PLETCHER, Earl WAIDE and Fred SMITH. Burial was made in the Ochiltree Cemetery.

Mr. GOODMAN, who was 58 years old died at Oklahoma City, Friday from injuries received when his car overturned eight miles south of Spearman while being towed by a car operated by his Son-in-law, Lewis MITTS of Stinnett. It was thought that the tow rope was too long causing him to lose control of the vehicle and overturning five times. Mr. GOODMAN received a broken neck, back and leg. He was brought to the Perryton hospital where the leg was set and then taken to Oklahoma City.

Mr. GOODMAN, whose home was in Gage, Oklahoma, was a former resident of Ochiltree County where he farmed for C. B. Rogers for approximately 12 years. He also farmed on what is known as the "Old Glasgow place" and for Audie Conley. He moved to Gage, Oklahoma about 12 years ago.

Claude Luther GOODMAN was born March 18, 1888 near Columbus, Kansas to Phillip and Emma GOODMAN and entered into rest December 21, 1945 at the age of 57 years 9 months and 3 days.

He was united in marriage to Nancy PUTMAN on December 17, 1911 at Big Fork, Arkansas. They moved to Perryton, Texas where they lived for about sixteen years. Since then they have been making their home near Gage and Sharon, Oklahoma.

To this union six children were born: the three who preceded him in death are: Lucy, Martha and Claude Jr. Those whom he leaves bear their loneliness in the hope of a glorious resurrection are: his wife, three daughters: Mrs. Tula HARLAND of Texhoma, Oklahoma, Mrs. Edna DRAKE of Sharon, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Effie MITTS of Spearman, Texas, one brother, Rev. Marlin GOODMAN of Kingsland, Kansas, and seven grandchildren.

He was a member of the Methodist Church. He was a devoted husband and father to his family, and kind friend and neighbor to all who knew him.
