PVT Ralph Henry Kelsey died in battle in France during World War I on October 16, 1918. He was born on March 15, 1891 in Claremont, NH; the son of Frank and Harriet (Whitman) Kelsey.

He attended Stevens High School and went on to Dartmouth College where he sang in the choir and glee club. He was a member Phi Sigma Cappa.

After graduation, he entered the florist business, but at the outbreak of the war, he was working at Woolworth Company in Binghamton, NY.

He entered the service in April of 1918 as a Private in the 309th machine gun company. After being trained in French camps, he was sent to the western front where he was killed in action on October 16, 1918.

He married Edith Lyon on September 1, 1910 in Chenango, NY.

He is survived by his wife.

Burial is in Mtn View Cemetery.

Private Ralph H Kelsey, Private M. G., Co 309th Infantry. Killed in Action in the World War, October 17, 1918. The body was disinterred in France and brought to Claremont in January, 1922. Buried January 20, 1922 in Mountain View Cemetery. (Page 11)
