Teresa (better known as Traci) died at 16 years of age from Leukemia. Traci is the daughter of Charles and Sharon Sumner Fields. Her siblings are Kimberly and Chuck Fields. Aunt of Sean Donovan, and John & Collin Fields. Granddaughter of Harry and Martha Altmeyer Sumner Rose. Step-granddaughter of Paul Rose. Granddaughter of Larkin and Geneva Hatfield Fields.

Traci loved animals and was able to enjoy being the owner of a horse and a dog. She had a Tennessee Walker named Rebel (even though he weighed A LOT more than she did she could make him mind with no problem). Traci was 5 feet 3 and her weight went down to 68 pounds due to her illness. She also had a poodle named Chantelle. Traci entered Chantelle in a local dog contest every year for about 5 - 6 years. Chantelle had been so well trained by Traci that she won the contest every year she was in it.

Traci was a very brave, loving, and strong individual who was loved and respected by all who knew her. Her epitaph describes her well: FAITH, WISDOM, AND COURAGE FAR BEYOND HER YEARS. Even though Traci was with us for only 16 years, she was and always will be a true blessing in our lives. We thank GOD for her, and we try to live by her example. We know one day we will be together again and we will have a great celebration. We love and miss her very much.

Traci has been proven to be a 5th greatgranddaughter of a Revolutionary War soldier (Robert Thomas Bedwell, born 1759, Delaware - died 1842, Sullivan Co., IN. Robert is buried in Moody Cemetery, Sullivan County, IN., and is listed on findagrave).

I wrote the following for Traci many years ago and had it copywrited in 1983.

It was a cold, quiet night at the cemetery. The snow was falling gently to the ground. The only sound that could be heard was the whistling of the wind. Off in the distance I suddenly heard the tiny sound of jingling bells. I looked around and wondered where the life was in the stillness of this cemetery.

As I gazed around, I saw a ray of moonbeam shining down on a small Christmas tree.

I thought to myself, "This is where the life is in the cemetery!"

Ring the bells this holiday season in memory of those you love.

To show you more of what Traci was like, I wrote the following:

"Traci, my angel, I can see the big grin on your face for all the flowers you're receiving on your memorial page. You're telling me, "Mom, why are you so surprised there are so many good people in this world? You should have known that....." "You're right, sweetheart, I should have known".

Traci was a person of strong faith. GOD took excellent care of her and helped her through all her hardships! Her faith never wavered.

GOD, bless you, and thank you for your wonderful gift of Traci.

We've received an outpouring of so much love for Traci. That has made our hearts very happy.

Added 11/24/2012:

Its been almost 33 years since Traci passed but sometimes it seems like just yesterday. She was a wonderful daughter and is missed so very much. Many tears have been cried for missing her. Many smiles have come from beautiful memories with her.

Added 11/20/2013:

It seems impossible that Traci would have been 50 years old today. She passed away at the age of 16 years which will be 34 years this Christmas Eve. My family and I will never get over the pain as no family would. She was a very strong, compassionate (also a little devil but in a good way), GOD loving and GOD trusting person. Everyone who knew her loved her.

It's now been 35 years since our baby went to heaven, but that doesn't seem possible. We all have her in our hearts and we miss her so very, very much. We have many wonderful memories of her. We also have sad ones of the ways her treatments affected her. We were all elated when she would go into remission, and we all cried when she went out of remission. She handled everything she went through like a pro and never lost her sense of humor.

GOD gave her tremendous grit to go through her trials. She was so good and with her attitude and humor she helped the rest of her family cope. We lost our angel.

Happy 51st birthday, my angel.
