Mr. A. M Shaw, who was well known in Valdosta, died at his home at Lenox Monday night of paralysis. Mr. Shaw was the father of Mrs. Samuel Brown who died here Sunday evening. The funeral services of both were held at Brushy Creek cemetery in Berrien county. Mr. Shaw was one of the old citizens of Berrien county and had a wide circle of friends who will regret to hear of his death. He had been in feeble health for some time and death came to him after he reached an advanced age.

He enlisted in Co. H. 1st Georgia Regiment (Olmsteads) on 3 September 1861 at Savannah, GA. His arm was amputated below the elbow on 10 April 1862 from wounds received at the Siege of Fort Pulaski from a shell.
