Obituary, The State (Columbia, SC) Tuesday, November 24, 1981, pg 3B; Abyss M. Rogers, Camden - Abyss M. Rogers, 84, died Sunday at Morrell Convalescent Center at Hartsville. Born in Lee County, he was a son of the late Alec and Nancy Player Rogers. He was a retired lunchroom manager of Antioch School and a veteran of World War I, II and the Korean conflict. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Janie Outlaw Rogers of Hartsville; three sisters, Mrs. W.H. Ward and Mrs. Paul Lindsay of Charlotte and Mrs. McKinley Brown of Camden; a half sister, Mrs. Katheryn Self of Camden; six half brothers, Lockee, Wofford, Laverne and Alvin Rogers of Camden, Roy Rogers of Lewistown, Pa., and Raphu Rogers of Fayetteville, N.C. Services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Antioch Baptist Church. Kornegay Funeral Home is in charge.
