Andrew D. Shaffer, 77, retired Paint Twp. farmer, d 10 pm last night at his home here. He had been bedfast for the last 6 wks, suffering from a complication of diseases. s/o Daniel & Elizabeth (Seese) Shaffer & b 10 Sep 1858. Mr. Shaffer & Phoebe Berkey m by Rev. David Stufft, at that time pastor of the Scalp Level Luth. Ch. They observed 55th wedding anniversary last Nov. They formerly lived at Davidsville. Surviving are his widow & chldn: Simon Shaffer, Paint Twp.,; Irvin Shaffer; Elizabeth, w/o Ira McFeeley; Harry Shaffer, Mrs. Carrie Faust & Dewey Shaffer, all Rummel. 30 gchldn & 19 ggchldn. Bro/o Mrs. Susan Berkey, J-town, Mrs. Uriah Penrod, Paint Twp., & Mrs. Rebecca Kauffman, Davidsville. 3 sons, Daniel, Emory & Herman, & a sis & 2 bro.s, preceded him in death. Lifelong Memb. Luth. Ch. here. Funeral services conducted Mon afternoon. Body will be removed to Luth. Ch. here at 1:30 pm, where it may be viewed til 2:30 pm when obsequies will be conducted. Bur., Rummel Cem., under direction, G. C. Meek, Windber mortician.
