Cause of death: Cancer

At the age of 37, he enlisted in the U.S.Army in 1943 and went to war, inspite of the fact that he had 8 children. He spent more than 30 years as a lettercarrier of the U.S.Mail in the Dorchester section of Boston.

In his younger days, back in the late 1920's, he was a boxer and fought under the name of "Johnny Madden" so his Dad wouldn't know. He had a lot of explaining to do, so he said.

He was very active in the "Knights of Columbus" and sang "Bass" in the "Barber Shop Quartet" of the Redberry Council #117 in Neponset, MA. At which time, they were winners on the "Major Bowe's Show" in a Barber Shop Quartet contest, back in the 1930's.
