Fern was the daughter of George Carl WALTERS and Elin Maria ABRAHAMSON. She married Donald John ELLIOTT on 9 February 1946.
She grew up in Manistee and graduated from Manistee High School, Class of 1941.
After high school she moved to Chicago where she met Donald ELLIOTT. They moved back to Manistee in 1948.
She was a member of the Manistee United Methodist Church and the Etha Nagler Circle of the Church. She was a passionate collector of fine antiques and enjoyed playing bridge and traveling. Fern was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Fern was survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Donald John (Sheila) ELLIOTT II of Manistee and Gregory (Leslie) ELLIOTT of Ann Arbor; her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth (Robert) MATTICE of Manistee; grandchildren Matthew and Brianna YEAGER of Centerville, Virginia, Elin YEAGER of Manistee, Jessica YEAGER of Kihei, Hawaii, Joshua ELLIOTT of Manistee and Lacy ELLIOTT of Manistee; great-grandchildren, Arian and Gavin; her brother and sister-in-law, Roy (Marlene) WALTERS of Manistee; her sister and brothers-in-law, Fay (Leroy) SANDBERG of Bremerton, Washington; and George PUTNICK of Dearborn and by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, Fern was also preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan YEAGER, in 1978, by two brothers, Ted Malcolm WALTERS and Jerry WALTERS, and two sisters, Hazel PATERSON and June PUTNICK.
Funeral services were held on 30 March 2010, at the Manistee United Methodist Church.
