Raymond Edwin Libengood, 84, of Blairsville (Strangford), passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana. A son of Homer L. and Sara E. (Repine) Libengood, he was born Nov. 10, 1925 in Strangford.
Mr. Libengood lived his entire life in the Strangford area and was a self- employed woodsman. He was a veteran of the World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He was treasurer of the Burrell Township Sewer Authority and a member of the Blairsville VFW Post 5821.
Surviving are a daughter, Florence Krebs, Robinson; three grandchildren, Edwin Sarra, Mandy Walker and Bryan Krebs; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Gerald Libengood and wife Esther, Strangford; a sister, Lila Peterson and husband James, Pittsburgh; several nieces and nephews; and his caregiver, Pat Sarra.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beulah (King) Libengood in 1954; two brothers, John and Jay Libengood; a sister, Elverda Hoffman; and a son-in-law, Lawrence Krebs.
Friends were received at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Blairsville, where funeral services were held Saturday with Rev. Rob Ingmire officiating.
Interment was in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville.
Military services will be accorded by Blairsville VFW Post 5821 and American Legion Post 0407.
