He married Maude Estelle Turner 30 November 1905 at Harrington, Lincoln County, Washington.
They farmed but lived in the town of Harrington much of the time. He "was prominently affiliated with civic, fraternal and church affairs. He was one of the promoters of the former mule shows. He served as councilman and mayor, and served on the board of education (1927-1932). He was serving his second term as Commissioner from the Second District, at the time of his death."
He underwent an operation for a gall bladder ailment, pneumonia developed. When he passed away, Harrington and Lincoln County paid tribute to him when all business houses of the town and the county court house were closed during the morning for his funeral.
