Traveling, camping, sitting by the lake, and square dancing were some of the activities they enjoyed. She enjoyed visiting with her friends and neighbors, and the coffee was always on and the cookie jar full when someone came to the door. She loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted and active member of the United Methodist Church in Herman. In 1999, they moved into the Steve and Roberta Johnson home near Barrett. Her husband passed away in 2004.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter Carol Wicken; brothers, Einar (who died in infancy) and Edgar Hagen; and sister Alphia McCollor.

She is survived by her children: Donna (Ron) Christians, Lake City, Vic, Cotahuasi, Peru, Cindy (Sam) Hanson, Hopkins, and Jane (Clayton) Larson, Hawley; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother Elmer Hagen, Hoffman; sisters-in-law, Adeline Shauer, Hoffman, and Glenice Giese, Calif.; brother-in-law Neil (Joyce) Hanson, Herman; and several nieces and nephews.
