Carl Strong, 81, of Oak street died Friday night in Tipton Hospital after an illness of one week. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday from the Leatherman-Morris Funeral Home with Rev. Lawrence Hufhand officiating. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.

The deceased was born in Greenfield Nov. 1 1887, son of Stephen and Samira (Runyon) Strong. He was married Oct. 7, 1908 in Jennings County to the former Lura Sample. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and for 43 years was an employee of the Nichol Plate Railroad.

Survivors include the wife two sons, George G. Strong, of Tipton and Alvin D. Strong, of Charlestown, Massachusetts; brothers, Grover L. Strong, of Maryland; Harold Strong and Cecil Strong, of California; and a sister Cynthia Rode, also of California.
