Clyde W. Schreiber, 93, died March 17, 2010, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born Feb. 3, 1917, in Larned, the son of Amos Clinton and Catherine Huffman Schreiber. A resident of Hutchinson since 1955, he had been a guard at Package Corporation, retiring after 17 years.

He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson. He served in the United States Army during World War II.

On May 27, 1952, he married Isabel Mary Juarez in Larned. She died Aug. 17, 2003. Survivors include: five sons, Clyde J. Schreiber, Anthony, Ronald Schreiber and wife Linda and Albert Castor and wife Leta, all of Hutchinson, John Gonzales, Fairburn, Ga., and Joe Castor and wife Michelle, Leon; four daughters, Rose Kelsey and husband Gene, Ottawa, Ann Forst and husband Dennis, Archie, Mo., Bobbie Schreiber, Hutchinson, and Gloria Valadez and husband Tom, Kingman; 37 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a twin brother, Claude, a brother, John, and 2 sisters, Mabel Seifert and Verna Wilson.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson. Burial will follow in Eastside Cemetery, Hutchinson. Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday all at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, Hutchinson. A parish rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Sunday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House of Reno County or Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, both in care of the funeral home. (From Hutchnews)
