Pat Scott 79, of Post, died on Sunday March 21, 2010 at Mesilla Valley Hospice at Las Cruces, NM. She was born on Sept. 23, 1930 to William Owen and Ruby Stella Coppedge at Sulphur Springs. She attended school there and married Henry Petty in 1946. They made their home at Sulphur Springs and later they moved to Lubbock. In 1960 she moved to Post to raise her children. Her favorite pass time was gardening and her pets. Pat moved to Las Cruces, NM to be with her daughter and son in law, Pam and Steve Newby.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; five brothers; and a son, Michael Petty on Aug. 7, 2000.

Celebration of life service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Heritage House, 109 North Avenue N. and burial will follow in the Terrace Cemetery.

A reception will be held at the Heritage House after the service at 4 to 6 p.m.

Arrangements are under the personal care of Dee and Janet Justice, Justice-Mason Funeral Home.

Survivors include, daughter, Pam Newby and her husband Steve of Las Cruces, NM; son, Ronnie D. Petty and his wife Becky of Frisco; brother, Van Coppedge and his wife Nancy of Lubbock; sister, Eileen McDonald of Winnsboro; seven grandchildren, Todd Petty and wife Nicole of Frisco, Deborah Borgman and husband Brady of Allen, Heather Intres and husband Bradley of Jonesboro, AR, Justin Newby of Albuquerque, NM, Brent Petty and Brandi Petty of Waco and John Patrick Petty of Ft. Worth; four great-grandchildren, Gavin Borgman and Logan Borgman of Allen and Zachary Petty and Jenna Petty of Frisco.

Because of her love for animals, memorials are suggested to Post Animal Refuge Center, C/O Janice Plummer, 914 W. 14th Street, Post, Texas 79356.

The family will greet friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
