There was a Charles B. Cline who lived in Morgan’s Point in the 1900 and 1910 Census. However, he was born around 1868 and died November 25, 1912. It is very possible that the birth date on the grave stone is in error. If C.B. Cline was born in 1868, then he died at age 44.
Charles’ parents were Joseph Cline (born 1826 in Georgia) and Amanda Jane Mears (Marris) Cline (born 1844 in Louisiana). They married in 1860 in Orange, Texas, and Charles' father worked as a carpenter. Charles and his six siblings were born between 1862 an 1876 and raised on the Texas coast. His mother remarried in 1877, and Charles and his siblings left Refugio and went to live in Aransas County with his step-father Frank Mathis (Mathews). His step father worked as a laborer.
Charles Cline married Isabel Wood in 1890 in Galveston. Isabel was born in 1871 and was of Scottish heritage. They boarded with another Morgan’s Point couple in 1900, and Charles was a boatman. By 1910, they had been married 20 years with no children and rented a home on "Bay Shore Road" in Morgan’s Point. Charlie was employed as a ship builder in 1910 and he died in 1912. Isabel moved to Houston and took in lodgers. She later remarried and died there in 1958.
